Pocket Courtyard
This white stucco townhouse is on a prominent corner of the historic Georgetown neighborhood. It has a tiny front bed at the front and a small garden courtyard at the rear with an entry off the side street. At the rear, Richardson & Associates focused on simplifying and unifying the appearance with minimal materials and monochromatic color for the walls and floor. Painted cedar siding, pale limestone, and painted brick provides a calm backdrop for the owner’s collection of eclectic pots filled with lush plantings. Sensitive lighting, a granite basin fountain, fire pit, and minimal furniture complete the intimate space. Tall concrete planters line the street side of the house to extend the owners’ planter garden.
