The schematic design for this residence in Norther The schematic design for this residence in Northern Virginia seamlessly integrates all the outdoor activities that the owner envisioned for the family.

Central to this design is the pool and pool pavilion, which serves as the ideal space for social gatherings and relaxation.

The activity lawn, located adjacent to the pool, is a versatile area for recreation.

Additionally, the design features a sunken fire pit, which serves as an inviting focal point for evening gatherings, along with a kitchen garden for homegrown produce.

Our designers approached the planting plan of this Our designers approached the planting plan of this Bethesda residence with a keen understanding of plant selection and placement.

For example, a row of evergreen ‘Otto Luyken’ Laurels is used as a solid backdrop for perennials with finer foliage like the ‘White Cloud’ Calamint and ‘Blue Spire’ Russian Sage.

Another example is the placement of a ‘Bloodgood’ Japanese Maple at the end of a stone walk as a focal point with wonderful visual appeal.

The result is a plant palette of layers, colors, and textures that complements the clean lines and traditional forms of this brick home.

Currently under construction, our downtown project Currently under construction, our downtown project is on track to become a vibrant outdoor entertainment and gathering space. These renderings help us visualize the design and materials.

At the rear of the courtyard stands an industrial-style pergola constructed from reclaimed railroad tracks. This structure will provide shade over a cozy lounge area anchored by a sleek, modern stone fireplace.

Surrounding the space is a continuous stone seat wall with planting on the backside for privacy screening. The seat wall, similar to the fireplace and terrace, will be constructed from Valders limestone.

This type of stone offers a natural, earthy look while also being durable and stylish, making it a practical choice for creating inviting, functional landscapes.

The landscape of this Chevy Chase home is a wonder The landscape of this Chevy Chase home is a wonderful example of a matrix-style garden–diverse, full, and seasonal.

Early-blooming hellebores show up as early as February, followed by the plume-like flowers of astilbe later in the spring. Just as the astilbe blooms start to fade, blooms from catmint, amsonia, and hostas carry the garden through the summer.
